Christmas

Born out of a dialogue with the artist Dimitri Rybaltchenko, ‘Invisible’ pays tribute to the behind-the-scenes work carried out by acrobats, tightrope walkers and jugglers – among other archetypes of risk, balance, juggling and suspension. These figures adorn gift boxes, logs, chocolate bars, chocolates and Advent calendars with their elegant silhouettes and iconic props. Here, suspension ropes; there, a unicycle; further on, a hoop, a balance ball, skittles and juggling balls… All these depictions are conceived as mysterious shadows captured by follow-spotlights.

The Invisible - Équilibre du goût Christmas Collection by Pierre Hermé Paris

An ode to the art of the circus, where the elegance of every gesture conceals years of mastery, and where indulgence reveals itself from the very first bite.

This year, Maison Pierre Hermé Paris invites you beneath the big top with Invisible, its Christmas collection created as a tribute to the world of the Modern Circus. Macarons, chocolates, cakes, panettones, marrons glacés, Advent calendars and gift boxes come together in a precious collection of delicate, distinctive and utterly indulgent creations, to give or to keep for the festive season.

Invisible: Pierre Hermé’s tribute to the work behind the scenes

Since its origins in the 18th century, the modern circus has been built on a founding paradox: veiling hard work in beauty, so that only emotion remains. The elegance of a single gesture springs from imperceptible workings: technical processes, silent effort, years of apprenticeship and training. All of it is invisible.

Born from a dialogue between Pierre Hermé and the artist Dimitri Rybaltchenko, the collection pays homage to those who work in the shadows: acrobats, tightrope walkers and jugglers, archetypes of risk, balance and suspension. Their graceful silhouettes and signature props adorn the gift boxes, yule logs, chocolate bars, chocolate sweets and Advent calendars: suspension ropes, a unicycle, a hoop, a balancing ball, juggling clubs and balls. They appear as mysterious shadows caught in the beam of a spotlight.

Without ever caricaturing the circus, the collection subtly evokes its thrill through a joyful kaleidoscope of references. Beneath the striped big top, the interplay of shadow and light and a scattering of stars create an almost magical sky. The flavour, too, is invisible, yet unmistakable from the very first bite.
